Back To Krishna Magazine is aimed at an audience who has for the first time get in touch with Kṛṣṇa consciousness, nevertheless, articles for a devotees’ audience are welcome as well. Just take in consideration that most of the books are distributed to new people, nonetheless, reading by a devotees’ audience is gradually growing up.
Variety is the mother of enjoyment–you can write about several different subjects such as:
-The science of bhakti-yoga
-Karma & reincarnation
-Science & spirituality
-My journey to the holy dham
-Spiritual education
-Current global issues and Kṛṣṇa consciousness as the one in all solution
-The maha mantra Hare Kṛṣṇa
-My own experience taking to Kṛṣṇa consciousness
-Family and Kṛṣṇa consciousness
-Vedic culture
…just to mention a few.
Here’s some basic writing advice. Ask yourself these questions:
- Is the overall theme of the article clear?
- Is the topic of the article suitable for BTK?
- Have I read previous articles in BTK?
- Have I understood BTK’s audience and written for them?
- Does the article flow logically? Are the transitions clear and natural?
- Am I sure my article is in line with the philosophy of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books?
- Before including a story or quote (a pastime of Kṛṣṇa’s, for example) in your article, no matter how well you think you know it, go back to the source and review it so you will be sure to get it right. Include the sources for stories or quotes, and before submitting an article check to make sure your sources are correct.
- Maximum length of articles: 2,500 words (for photo articles 1,500 words)
Requirements for writing and sending your article.
Remember that this service is for the satisfaction of Śrīla Prabhupāda and the guru parampara up to Kṛṣṇa, try to make things as perfect as possible, just befitting Kṛṣṇa’s magazine. We actually have some requirements to make it easier for the editors downloading, approving, proofreading & publishing.
- When you are done with the final version of your article, it must be uploaded in the below’s section
- Allowed formats are: .pages .docx .rtf
- Name your file as follows: author_name.file
author: your spiritual name in case you have, otherwise your legal name
name: your article’s name
.file: file extension (.pages, .docx, .rtf)
Example: krishnakishordas_vedicscience.rtf - You article’s name should be short and descriptive of what you are intending to write
- All Sanskrit words must have diacritics (e.g. ṁ, ś, ī, ā, ḥ, etc., such as in the following verse bhayaṁ dvitīyābhiniveśataḥ syāt), there are several websites with Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books where you can copy/paste Sanskrit words and verses with diacritics. In case you need to convert a Vedabase word into Unicode you can use the following website https://pratyatosa.com/?P=41
- Do not use italics, words in bold, or any kind of specific formatting
- Recommended font but not mandatory–Gandhari, it goes very well with diacritics

- Do not include your article’s title inside the document
- Make sure you are copying any verse or quote from Śrīla Prabhupāda’s original books
